In the first round of the CIF division 1 playoffs, Foothill outscored Santiago, 11-5, to advance to Tuesday’s second round at El Toro.

The Knights were led by three huge hits against the Sharks.
Sean Higgins had a bases loaded double in the second inning, driving in three runs.
It gave the Knights a 3-1 lead.

However, Santiago scored 3 times in the third to retake the lead.

In the bottom of the third, Foothill scored 4 runs, largely as a result of Jack Sampson’s three run double.

In the 4th inning, Foothill scored 4 more runs. Alex Sardina hit a three-run homer to give Foothill an 11-4 lead.

Sardina, Sampson, Ryan Taurek and Zach Yoo had two hits each in the game.

Higgins’ double set a Foothill record for doubles in a season.

Foothill is 22-7 and looks to avenge last season’s quarterfinal 2-1 loss at El Toro. The Chargers are the defending CIF champions.
